Mounting foam

Mounting Foam Consumption Calculator

A standalone page for quickly estimating foam by joint dimensions or opening perimeter.

Calculation data

The calculator works with any foam: straw, gun-grade, all-season or fire-rated. You enter the declared can yield in liters yourself.

Formula

  • Volume, l = joint length, m × gap width, cm × gap depth, cm × 0.1.
  • For an opening, length is calculated as perimeter: (width + height) × 2 × quantity.
  • Cans = required volume with allowance / yield per can.

What to consider

  • Actual yield depends on can temperature, humidity, joint width and application quality.
  • For windows and doors, keep an allowance so you do not run out near the end of installation.

Calculation questions

What can yield should I enter?

Enter the real or manufacturer-declared cured foam yield in liters: for example 35, 45, 60 or 70 l.

Why is the result different from the ml volume on the can?

Milliliters on the label show the liquid content inside the can. For planning, you need the cured foam yield after expansion.
