primer enamels are chosen when surface preparation and decorative finish painting need to be combined in one material. This subcategory includes 7-in-1 acrylic coatings for radiators and metal surfaces, as well as for wood, metal and concrete.
What primer enamels are used for
- helping protect and level a prepared surface before the final appearance is formed;
- combining primer and enamel functions when this matches the instructions of the specific product;
- local repair of radiators, metal structures, wooden and mineral substrates;
- work outdoors and indoors under the conditions recommended by the manufacturer;
- choosing a product by substrate, colour, heat resistance and pack size.
How to choose a primer enamel
- for radiators and metal surfaces, check the dedicated primer enamel with heat resistance stated in the specifications;
- for mixed substrates, choose the option intended for wood, metal and concrete;
- when colour matters, check ready-made shades, white base and tinting options;
- smaller packs are convenient for local areas, while larger packs suit several surfaces or a bigger area;
- before buying, compare substrate compatibility, application conditions, drying time and recommended application method.
What to check before application
- the substrate should be dry, solid and cleaned of dust, dirt, grease, rust and unstable old coatings;
- damaged or weakened areas should be prepared according to recommendations for the specific material;
- before work, primer enamel is mixed until uniform;
- application temperature, number of coats and drying time should be checked on the specific product card;
- for metal and heated surfaces, surface preparation and later operating conditions should be considered.
