paint primers are used before painting to prepare the substrate for a more even finish coat. This subcategory includes a 1:4 acrylic primer concentrate for outdoor and indoor work.

What paint primers are used for
  • helping prepare porous areas before applying finish paint;
  • improving paint adhesion to a prepared substrate;
  • reducing the risk of uneven coating application on mixed or absorbent surfaces;
  • preparing substrates outdoors and indoors under the conditions stated by the manufacturer;
  • forming a layer that is transparent after drying when the substrate colour should remain visually unchanged.
How to choose a primer before painting
  • for painting preparation, check acrylic primers compatible with the selected finish coating;
  • a 1:4 concentrate is chosen when a working solution diluted with clean water is needed;
  • smaller packs suit local jobs, while larger volumes are more convenient for bigger areas;
  • if the substrate is porous or uneven, consider absorbency and the condition of the old coating;
  • before buying, check application temperature, application method and dilution recommendations.
What to check before priming
  • the substrate should be dry, solid and cleaned of dust, dirt, grease, old coating residue and poorly bonded particles;
  • the concentrate is diluted with clean water in the ratio stated for the specific product;
  • after dilution, apply the solution evenly with a brush, roller, paintbrush or spraying;
  • work should be done at the temperature stated in the product specifications and with regard to site conditions;
  • finish paint is applied after substrate preparation and drying of the primer layer according to the instructions.
